A couple of weeks update

One or two people may have noticed that I haven't posted so much as a photo the last couple of weeks. Sorry about that.

We've had some interesting stuff going on....okay, well not really, just a bunch of dumb stuff that took up a lot of time. Here are a few of them:

The dogs got skunked about 3 weeks ago (face first, simultaneously) at 3:30am and then ran past my husband into the basement and rolled on the carpet. Subsequently, the entire house had to be steam-cleaned, every piece of fabric in it had to be washed (including future-sized clothing stashed in the attic)...and one dog still smells like skunk about 10 baths later.

The skunk in question has now decided that the sensor light directly outside our back door is the best entertainment ever and spends each night marching back and forth trying to set it off. Even the dogs are tired of watching.

Did I mention that it was on the night right before M's birthday party? The guests and their parents were very gracious about holding their breath and the fact that they left reeking of skunk (that smell gets into everything).

My parents came 800kms for a visit the same week. We had dogs growing up. They were unconcerned about the smell. Good thing, because one of our 60+lb girls thinks she is a lap dog and loves my Dad.

Things went back to just the usual mayhem for a few days.

This past Saturday, one of our weekend regular babysittees slept over (we know a pile of kids whose parents call us when they need a night out. The parents get a break, my kids get a sleepover, everybody's happy). She and D are buddies and spent much of the evening hiding on the recliner together under a blanket tent and giggling. Sunday morning, we discovered that the friend was crawling with lice. Is your head itching just thinking about it? Mine is! Anyway, after her mom had collected her we gathered every soft surface the kids had played with (I am STILL washing those!), steam cleaned the chairs and couches, vacuumed the carpets, and buzzed D as bald as his Daddy. He thinks it's hilarious and loves that people keep rubbing his head like a good luck charm. I'm still traumatized.

Next week I am working every day, plus the weekend, because it's the big annual bazaar at work and I'm in charge of special events.

All that said, here are a couple of photos of random preschool and life skills stuff that I did with D since the last time I posted. M has only done basic stuff and gets annoyed if I try to photograph her while she's doing her writing lessons or math, so you can just imagine a sullen pre-teen glaring at a piece of paper, ok?
Oh wait - I did get some. She did this pumpkin from a tutorial on Hodgepodge:
And one day it was so warm that we went to the beach, because how often do you get to do that in QC at the end of October?!

I have a giveaway coming up which I will post either later today, or tomorrow. I'm pretty excited about this one!
