This week is the launch of the 2012 Readathon #readforgood! If you haven’t already signed up to join in and read the free
books with your child, you can find out how here @MeMeTales.
The theme this week is Animals, so we chose the story The
Donkey and the Wolf.
It’s a cute story about a donkey who is trapped by a hungry
wolf, and the clever way he saves himself (if memory serves correct, it may be
one of Aesop’s fables?). I won’t say any more in case you want to read it with
your own child, but here are some things we did while reading the story:
D noticed that Donkey starts with the same letter as his
name. We spent some time thinking of other D words. He also wrote D with his fingers and sticks on every surface he encountered, including his applesauce and the bubbles in his bath. He sounded a few cvc words starting with D: Dog, Dig, Dud.
