Sidewalk Sudoku!

It is -finally- nice enough to stay outside for hours! Normally, for us that leads to a lot of science activities but this year I’ve been also trying to add in more subjects outside, which led to my latest brainstorm:

Sidewalk Sudoku.

I drew a set of 9 squares in chalk for each. For my 5 year old, I made big foam shape, set up the board, and explained how it works. He picked it up in no time and I actually had to resort to asking him to freeze for a photo (Bad mom! Bad!) so I could show you.

I was amazed at how long he played with this, asking us to start new patterns many times.  So simple, and a great brain workout, without ever having to go back inside! My 12 year old has asked me to make more foam shapes and a bigger sudoku challenge for her.
